WHAT IS REFLEXOLOGY? Reflexology is based on the premise that there are nerve reflexes in the feet that correspond with every part, gland and organ of the body. Through systematic pressure and stimulation of these reflexes, the body is assisted to return to natural functioning. In the process, endorphins (natural pain-killers) are released, parasympathetic relaxation of the nervous system takes place, increased blood and lymphatic circulation results in increases in oxygen and immune levels, all of which helps to restore balance to the body. Reflexology primarily eases tension, and helps to reduce stress. It is a wonderful way to feel better and gain a sense of well-being. Reflexology is not a substitute for necessary medical treatment. Reflexology is a holistic modality often working together with other medical and complementary therapies to achieve the best results for the client.
WHAT IS THAI FOOT REFLEXOLOGY?
Thai Foot Reflexology is a delightful treatment for the lower legs and feet that originated in Thailand about 2000 years ago. Utilizing stretching, massage, thumb-walking and the use of a specially-tooled wooden stick to stimulate the reflex points, Thai Foot Reflexology seeks to restore balance to the body/mind through the reflexes of the feet and lower legs that are linked to the body’s 72,000 energy meridians (sen). It is an enjoyable holistic treatment that restores balance to the mind and body at the same time that it stimulates the internal organs. Reported benefits are: improved circulation in legs and hands; improved lymphatic drainage; increased removal of waste deposits and toxins; elevated functioning of the immune system; reduced stiffness and improved flexibility; accelerated physical healing; relief from stress; improved sleep; mental clarity and stimulation. Thai Foot Reflexology is not a substitute for medical treatment or medication.
WHAT IS REIKI? Reiki is a Japanese form of stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is based on the Asian concept of life energy and is done by laying on hands. A subtle energy flows from the hands of the practitioner to the client, and it is this energy that creates the relaxation and healing effect. Reiki is a healing modality that helps promote balance on many levels -- physical, mental, emotional, spiritual -- regardless of age or state of health. Reiki is not a substitute for medical treatment or medication.
WHAT IS INDIAN HEAD MASSAGE? Indian Head Massage was originally developed by Indian women as part of their daily grooming routine. Massage skills were passed on from mother to daughter from generation to generation. Indian barbers incorporate massage into their treatment; a visit to the barber will always include champi -- the Western word for "shampoo" is derived from "champi" which means "having your head massaged". Some benefits of Indian Head Massage are: improves blood circulation; relaxes tight and painful muscles; eases stiffness and breaks down knots in muscles; improves lymphatic drainage; helps to dissipate mental tiredness, stress, depression resulting in greater mental alertness, concentration and clearer thinking. Indian Head Massage is not a substitute for medical treatment or medication.
WHAT IS REJUVENATING FACE MASSAGE? The Chinese discovered that by pressing certain acupressure points on the face, there was a greater flow of blood and oxygen to the facial area. Massage promotes a release of tension, a softening of lines, and toning and tightening of sagging skin, among other health-related benefits. This form of massage is not a facial but rather a massage-oriented treatment for the face. It is different from other facial massage methods and is done without the use of creams, oils or other products. All skin types will respond positively, since massage keeps the collagen and elastin fibers wet and warm, which encourages and stimulates their growth. Rejuvenating Face Massage is not a substitute for medical treatment or medication.
